If I could be invisible while shooting a wedding, that would be the best way to do it. Well for the first time, it almost felt like I was invisible and it was great! Thanks Chantal and Denis! I hope you like the photos as much as I do.

I did this photoshoot with Chalena Biggar back in February. It was actually her idea to do a bikini shoot in winter. I thought it was brilliant. We scheduled it on a Saturday that turned out super nice and sunny. It was the perfect weather. It was actually even a little warm. Maybe next time we’ll do it in a snow storm for a challenge Chalena was a great model and super easy to work with as usual. She made my job really easy.

The big guy in red made an appearance at our company’s Christmas party for kids. He was nice enough to interrupt his busy schedule to snap a few shots with the kids. It’s the second year that I shoot this event and it was another success. Not every kid was willing to sit on Santa’s knees but who can blame them. That dude is scary looking when you think about it. I think we all went through that phase whether we remember it or not.

In this photoshoot, I used a little less flash than usual. The house was really well let with big windows and I just had to use them. I used the flash to fill shaded areas by bouncing the flash off the ceiling. It didn’t work every single time, but most of them turned out really good.

I debated between using a backdrop or just the natural house environment. But when I walked in the living room it felt nice and cozy and I wanted to use that in the shots. I also applied a slight yellow filter in the post editing for an even warmer feel to it.

For lighting I used the ambient light and 2 speedlites bounced off the ceiling for a natural look.

I did make a few mistakes in during this shoot. 1- I over powered the flash which I didn’t notice on the lcd screen because of the strong sunlight. 2- I meant to set the white balance to compensate the warm CTO gel on my flash. That wasn’t a big issue since I’m shooting is RAW mode therefore I am able to fix everything in Adobe Lightroom.

The Irishtown Park is my favorite location for fall pictures. There was actually quite a few photogs there with their clients so it was a bit of a challenge to find a good vantage point without having people in the background.

The second biggest challenge wasn’t even a challenge after all. I needed a model willing to brave the cold and the mosquitoes and “act” like she was lost. I knew Chalena was good, but she totally surprised me. She’s a natural.
