Chateau a Pape Destroyed

The community of Moncton lost a historic architecture this past weekend. The century old building which housed a 4 generation family owned restaurant “Le Chateau a Pape” went up in flames in the early hours of Saturday morning. An RCMP officer spotted smoke coming out of the kitchen window while getting ready to leave at the end of his shift. Two hours later firefighters lost the battle to save the structure and could only try to contain the fire from areal towers. This is a sad day for the community and I wish the Gosselin family a good recovery.

Annie Leibovitz Capturing the Monarchy

When I started doing photography, I quickly learned that knowing how to use a camera does not make you a good photographer. The technical part of it is actually just a fraction of the work involved. There is a lot more involved and one of the most important elements is how to interact with your subjects. This is forever going to be a learning curve for me. I feel like I got a lot better than when I first started but it is often difficult to guide your models to match your visions and make them feel comfortable at the same time.

camera-giftDid you get a DSLR camera for Christmas? Maybe you got one a while ago and you put it away because you found it too overwhelming to learn how to use? A lot of people look at a DSLR camera and say “woah! I would need a course to learn how to use that”. Don’t be intimidated by the number of buttons on your camera. It all comes down to only 2 things that you need to pay attention to; Focusing and Exposure. You can ignore the rest for now. At least during the learning stage.
